New grant launched, support still needed

A wefie of givers to the gift that keeps on giving

The U-Lounge of Singapore Management University was buzzing between 5 and 9pm on Saturday 18 January 2025, with some 100 guests coming together to commemorate the launch of the SMU Pegasus Overseas Exchange Grant, a brand new initiative that would enable one financially challenged SMU student to go on an overseas exchange each year, every year in perpetuity.

Just crossed the halfway mark to $50,000 fundraising target

The grant may have only just been launched, but has already raised more than half of the $50,000 fundraising target. There's still about half to be raised before the grant can achieve its potential.

I'm indebted to the wonderful folks at SMU Office of Advancement led by Wai Leng, without whom, this grant and evening would not have been a reality. In particular, I must thank Sam who helped conceptualised the grant with me, Ivy for leading the organising of the event, and most of all, to Hosy for all the administrative support.

I'm also incredibly grateful to Lewis who runs PRINTXSG for bringing his mobile photo booth which came with customised photo props. The guests and I had a whale a time capturing the memory in print (and soft copy too!). If anyone is looking for a mobile photo booth for your events, give PRINTXSG a call. Special thanks to PRINTXSG crew Joseph for operating the booth non-stop throughout the evening. Check out the fun photos we snapped here!

The fundraising campaign has now closed. Thanks to all donors, we've raised $56,250, surpassing the $50,000 target.

With this amount, the University will be able to disburse $3,000 to support the overseas exchange programme of one financially challenged SMU student each year, every year, in perpetuity.
